Yvonne Champagne is an all-female, two bass and drums art rock trio from the high desert. With Cat Celebrezze and Suze Kearns on bass and Denise Tanguay on drums, Yvonne Champagne features gang vocals and the heavy sound of Mojave Fuzz. Their upcoming third album, Witch Moon, is a tribute to the magic and mystery of the Mojave desert’s night sky and all the weirdness thereunder. From the running rumble of Casting Shadows, to the heavy wonder of Moonrise Over the Mountain, to the dancecraft of the album’s title track, Yvonne Champagne delivers a phase-delay lunar odyssey in the key of heavy fuzz. Other releases include Murder Winds (2022), a de-tuned song cycle dedicated to that most diabolic of desert weather and their debut release, Yvonne Champagne (2021), a foray into more traditional desert rock as a four piece that features snaky tenor sax solos, ethereal paeans to the desert night sky, and a carnivalesque tribute to Tanguay’s grandmother, the band’s namesake and hero.
